Biography

I am a visual artist with a focus on large-scale oil painting and mixed media based in Brooklyn, NY.  My work explores themes of femininity, sexuality, innocence, and grief through an intuitive, rapid, and abstract process with each painting a deconstruction of momentary emotions. Exhibited in places such as the Brooklyn GO, Rush Arts, Saint Joseph's Gallery, Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition, SONYA open studios, LeRoy Neiman Art Gallery at Columbia University, as well as residencies at the Vermont Studio Center and the Wellspring House. The applicant has a Bachelor of  Fine Arts and Masters from Pratt Institute and a Masters A/C in art education from CUNY, Brooklyn College.

Artist Statement

The art I create is an obsession with motion. It is an attempt to capture the movement of bodies, organs, any form of life. Yet, more abstractedly, the turbulence within my subject's internal emotional world. Lines are layered, rapid, and intuitive, with each gesture responding to the last. The movement within my subject ultimately transfers to within myself and the work. Within this instinctual process, there is often an exploration of identity, gender, sexuality, and grief.
